The Records Division is the central repository for all police generated reports. The Property and Evidence Division is the designated storage facility for all seized, found and safe-keeping items turned in by an officer.

REQUESTING A POLICE OR CRASH REPORT

The Portales Police Department is in compliance with the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records act, regarding the release of Criminal Justice Records. We may, according to statute, refuse the release of certain records as prescribed in the law. 

You can fill out the records request and submit it online.

You may request a copy of your records at any time, and the Portales Police Department will be allowed at least 5 business to process each individual request. 

  • You will be expected to show a valid driver's license or provide valid identification.
  • You will be required to sign a record request form.
  • You will be required to pay the current posted fees.
  • You may fax in writing a records request form to 575-226-3915, but you will still be required to come into the Portales Police Department with the proper fees to collect your report.
