DUTIES
The City of Portales Treasury  Department is responsible for the financial management of the City. Services provided by the Treasury Department include the following: budget preparation and monitoring, financial reporting, debt management, accounts payable, capital projects, and capital asset management.

• To manage and maintain financial records in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles and in compliance with State and Federal laws.
• To develop and maintain effective and efficient financial planning, reporting, and central support systems in order to support the operating departments in achieving their program objectives.
• To provide the Mayor, City Council, and City Manager with financial information on a timely and meaningful basis.
• To provide quality service to the residents of the City of Portales and to safeguard the City's assets.
